Choose Dr Ballieux for your breast lift in Belgium

Dr Ballieux is a specialist in cosmetic surgery and a graduate in breast surgery from the Breast Academy. Dr Ballieux brings all her experience in breast surgery to help you regain a firm and high breast. Following pregnancy or weight loss, many women experience changes in their breasts and sagging. This is called breast ptosis.

Dr Ballieux, a specialist in plastic surgery, can inform you about all the techniques concerning mastopexy and breast lifting in Belgium.

About Breast Lift in Belgium

The breast often sags as a result of a loosening of the skin envelope and becomes ptotic. This is defined as a loosening of the mammary gland and the surrounding skin. This phenomenon can occur in all women, but often occurs after breastfeeding or after significant weight loss. If the breast is empty, it is called isolated ptosis or pure ptosis. This can also be associated with a degree of breast hypertrophy that is reducible on demand. This is called breast reduction.

The aim of this operation is to return the nipple and areola to their original position. It also allows the removal of excess skin and the lifting of the gland in order to obtain a harmonious breast again. The majority of the tissue is retained, with the aim of keeping a maximum volume while lifting the breast. In the case of a breast reduction, the size of the breast is also reduced according to your needs.

This operation is performed under general anaesthesia and requires a pre-operative mammogram.

Types of breast lift in Belgium

There are three different techniques which vary according to the severity of the breast ptosis such as

  • Minimal peri-areolar lift

This technique is used in cases of very moderate ptosis and therefore gives only one scar around the areola.

  • Vertical lift

It is mainly used for patients with moderate ptosis and therefore gives a scar around the areola and a vertical scar. However, it does not require an incision in the sub mammary fold. You can see the before and after pictures with Dr Ballieux to see how discreet this small scar is.

  • Reverse anchor lift

This technique is the most recommended in case of very important ptosis. The scar is shaped like an inverted T with three components: peri-areolar around the areola, vertical and horizontal in the sub mammary fold. The horizontal scar is defined by the amount of ptosis.

"Internal Bra" technique for breast lifting in Belgium

This method is often used for women who have damaged tissue on their breast implants, or for breasts that are distended by breastfeeding or are too large. The implant site is reinforced by adding an internal bra.

Dr Ballieux decides, depending on your case and the aspect of your tissues, either to move the pocket of your implant with a notched suture or to reinforce this pocket with a Galaflex type tissue matrix. This matrix is installed between the patient’s skin and the breast tissue. It then becomes its own internal support.

It is also important to know that a breast lift does not increase the size of your breasts. If you wish, Dr Ballieux recommends that you combine this lift with a breast implant, which will increase the volume of your breasts. This operation is performed under general anaesthesia and requires a pre-operative mammogram.
