Liposuction in Brussels

Liposuction in Brussels is a surgical technique for reshaping the figure. It permanently eliminates the excess fat present by means of slight incisions of 5 mm. Body fat is distributed over your figure according to 3 factors: diet, metabolism and heredity.

Learn more about fat storage

It is the hereditary factor that will determine the parts of the body in which the excess fat cells will be stored. Metabolic and dietary factors will increase or decrease the amount of fat carried by each cell. Liposuction will allow you to completely and permanently eliminate these fat cells. This procedure is intended for people who have little fat storage but who cannot get rid of it through weight loss or physical activity. There are different liposuction techniques in cosmetic surgery. To ensure natural results, Dr Ballieux uses SafeLipo.

What is SafeLipo for liposuction in Brussels ?

A metal tube is inserted through small holes into the targeted areas to sculpt unsightly fatty deposits. This technique guarantees a smooth and natural result. This process consists of 3 steps:

  1. Fat removal
  2. Suctioning
  3. Equalisation of the remaining fat or smoothing

Furthermore, this technique does not use any heat to remove the fat. The risk of damaging the surrounding tissue is therefore reduced. Potential internal damage from surgery is minimised.

What are the other advantages of this technique?

In contrast to conventional liposuction, the post-operative recovery time is shorter. The swelling and discomfort associated with the procedure are less consequential, allowing you to resume your activities more quickly. Based on the levelling of superficial fat, the result of this operation is smoother. It also allows the skin to reposition itself harmoniously for a natural effect.

The procedure is performed under general or local anaesthesia depending on the areas to be aspirated. The wearing of a girdle or a support panty will be necessary day and night for the first 6 weeks.
Whatever the surgery, recovery is generally as follows:

  • The 3 days after
Swelling and bruising may occur. To minimise the discomfort this may produce, Dr Ballieux prescribes oral analgesics to patients.
  • The first postoperative consultation
It is necessary to consult the practitioner 2-3 days after the operation
  • Resuming work and activities requiring physical effort
Patients usually resume their daily activities 1 week after the operation. However, activities requiring physical effort are not recommended for 1 to 2 months.

Whatever the type of surgery you have, possible complications are possible. Bruising, bleeding or swelling may occur.

We advise against taking aspirin or other medicines of this kind 2 weeks before. This molecule can intensify bleeding during and after the operation. If you would like to know more about which drugs to avoid, contact Dr Ballieux.

There is evidence that smoking can lead to complications in healing during surgery. We therefore advise avoiding smoking for 4 weeks beforehand.

Each patient is different. We cannot define a fixed price for our operations. Different elements enter into the calculation of the budget to be foreseen, such as the surgeon’s fees, the costs related to a hospitalization, the cost of an implant, the follow-up. The basic price for this type of surgery starts from 2500 euros for a procedure under local anaesthesia.
